Brookewood Junior Bella Romero Wins Maryland Poetry Out Loud State Title

Brookewood School is proud to announce that Bella Romero, an 11th-grade student, won the Maryland Poetry Out Loud state competition on Saturday, March 7, 2026. After advancing from Brookewood’s school competition to the regional level, Bella earned the state title and will now represent Maryland in the National Poetry Out Loud competition.

Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program for high school students that encourages the study of great poetry through memorization and recitation. The competition begins at the local level, with students advancing through regional and state contests before reaching the national finals. The program is designed to help students strengthen public speaking skills, build confidence, and engage more deeply with poetry and literary history.

Bella’s achievement is an exciting milestone for Brookewood and a testament to her talent, poise, and dedication.
