Cherie Thompson Walsh joined the Brookewood faculty in 2016 and has enjoyed teaching all levels of Upper-School English along with fulfilling her duties as Upper School Director and Assistant Head.

Before Brookewood, Cherie taught in independent schools for 13 years, serving as department chair and an academic leader. After taking some time with her young sons (Quentin, Avalon ’23, and Christopher, Avalon ’25), she returned to teach writing at the University of Maryland.

Cherie has a BA in English and Drama from Queens College as well as an MA in English Literature and an MFA in Poetry from the University of Maryland. A convert to Catholicism in 2002, Cherie especially values the Brookewood community as an example of the lived faith. As always, she’s delighted to take part in the adventure.
