Veronica Phair teaches Latin for Brookewood’s middle and high school students. She has over fifteen years of experience teaching Humanities and English Literature courses at the collegiate level and has multiple years tutoring Latin to individual students. As she was earning her graduate degree, she spent over a decade studying and translating other classical languages, including Ancient Greek, Biblical Hebrew and Old English, reading such works as Beowulf, the Iliad, and the Psalms in their original languages.
 
Veronica received her Ph.D. from The Catholic University of America in September of 2019 in English Renaissance Literature. Her dissertation, “Marking Hebrew Memory in Early Modern English Lyric,” examined the ways in which English poets incorporated the Hebrew Psalms and the Jewish understanding of them into their own poetry and prose. She received her Masters from The Catholic University of America and her B.A. in Literature from Thomas More College of Liberal Arts, in Merrimack, New Hampshire.
 
When she isn’t teaching or reading, Veronica enjoys running, painting, and baking various overly complicated desserts. Most of all, she looks forward to spending time with her husband, Chris Phair, and her band of four Avalon boys, all of whom share a similar love for poetry and lyric.
